In America, the early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the prodigy child category. For a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended families, these qualities were normal. Maureen was welcomed into the safe haven of her parents on the 17th of August 1920, in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Her mother, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as owned shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in games as a child. She combined this interest with an equally natural talent of performing. It was evident by her getting almost every Feis awards for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. At age fourteen, she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
